Central Minnesota Food Security Gets a Boost

Through Sourcewell's Food Security Partner Fund, administered by the Initiative Foundation, Sourcewell has provided $7,500 to every food shelf and food bank in its central Minnesota service region.

This funding, given to 28 organizations in the area, targets critical gaps in community food security. Each month more than 440,000 Minnesotans use SNAP, one of the national programs affected by budget cuts and the recent government shutdown.

"This is a critical time for our region," said Tammy Filippi, Senior Resource Development Administrator at Sourcewell. “Between the rising cost of living and lingering impacts from the government shutdown, now is the time to step up for food security in our communities. We're so thankful to the Initiative Foundation, for partnering with us on this fund and keeping rural Minnesotans fed.”
