Creating a Technology Playbook

Partnership helps Minnesota school districts share information

Imagine a database about K-12 school technology that includes districts across Minnesota — a comprehensive and interactive tech playbook, if you will — at your disposal.

Sourcewell Technology has partnered with FilterED to make that resource a reality for K-12 schools throughout Minnesota.

Anthony Padrnos, executive director of technology at Osseo Area Schools, contributed to the creation of the Technology Profile Module, the latest release on the FilterED platform.

“The Tech Profile lets tech directors share their district IT inventory, strategies, budgets, and vendors with one another,” he said. “The dashboard is like a collective, collaborative playbook and replaces shared Google sheets and emails. I can easily research, compare, and leverage local expertise.”

With no charge or obligation, IT leaders at school districts across Minnesota are invited to participate in FilterED’s online inventory. The Tech Profile inventory asks questions about your current processes, equipment and software utilized, staffing, and more.

Upon completion, you gain access to an interactive dashboard highlighting the visually represented data from other districts that are also participating in the Technology Profile. IT leaders can use this data for planning, decision making, and bringing new ideas to their district.

The Tech Profile is meant to facilitate collaboration among all Minnesota school districts. Sharing technology data and insight boosts district efficiency when making technology decisions.

Sourcewell Technology Vice President of Business Development Corey Tramm said his organization was eager to partner with FilterED to bring this opportunity to Minnesota schools and their technology teams. Tramm said this format allows technology decision makers to do quick, effective research and see what’s working, and what’s not, in other school districts.

Padrnos agreed and said he has already referred to his “collaborative playbook” to make important tech decisions for his team and district.

“The module is a connector to districts across the state,” Padrnos noted. “It’s a natural way to collaborate because we’re all using the same tool, data points, and common vocabulary.”
