Students advance from respective district bees to participate

More than 30 students from across a five-county area will take the stage at Sourcewell on Wednesday, March 25 at 1:30 p.m. for the 2020 Regional Spelling Bee. The event is free and open to the public.

The group of participating spellers is comprised of students in grades 3-8 from schools in Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd, and Wadena counties, and who were a finalist or champion in their respective district. The Regional Spelling Bee Champion earns a trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C., May 24-29, 2020. Sourcewell will cover all costs for the speller plus one parent or guardian.

Sourcewell has sponsored the Regional Bee for over 25 years. The event was held at Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd for many years and made the switch to Sourcewell's Staples location for the first time in 2017.
