February 4, 2019 - OR - February 5, 2019 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.	Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training	For law enforcement: This training session provides a basic overview of mental illness, including schizophrenia and psychotic disorders, mood disorders, cognitive disorders, personality and substance disorders. Choose one - the Monday or Tuesday session. Registration is now closed.
February 6, 2019 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.	Building Vocabulary for All Learners Webinar	For educators: Offering research-based reading and vocabulary instruction strategies for PK-12 teachers to use in whole, small and independent settings, this webinar will explore activities that foster higher-level thinking and questioning skills, encourage reading for meaning, and utilize formative assessments. February 7, 2019 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.	MDE Training: Developing a Shared Understanding of the 2018 Academic Standards & Benchmarks in Physical Education	For K-12 educators: In this workshop, actions and resources are recommended to help educator teams develop a shared understanding of the standards and benchmarks and initiate the curriculum review process. February 13, 2019 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.	Mental Health: Suicide Prevention Webinar	For educators: This two-hour webinar will cover early-onset mental illness in children and adolescents, including suicide prevention best practices. Registration is now closed.
February 19, 2019 1:30 p.m.	Regional Spelling Bee	Spelling champion(s) from each Region 5 district will compete at the Regional Spelling Bee hosted at Sourcewell. The champion of the Regional Bee will advance to the National Competition in Washington DC to represent Region 5.
February 27, 28, March 1, 2019 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 pm	Knowledge Bowl	For students in grades 7-12... Facing off against other teams, students work together to answer questions related to all areas of learning. The season consists of three meets and one regional meet. The top four senior high teams will advance to the state competition in April. Competitions will be held at Central Lakes College - Staples Campus. Grades 7-8 Regional Meet, Feb. 27; Grade 9 Regional Meet, Feb. 28; Senior High Regional Meet, March 1.
February 27, 2019 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.	Cultural Competency: Supporting Each Student Every Day Webinar	For educators: This webinar will offer information and perspective for teachers to first examine themselves as education thought leaders, influencing students each day. Owning our sense of self and offering equal space for others can be a challenge. Participants will consider alternative ways to connect with families and communities to foster acceptance, understanding, and appreciation. Registration is now closed.
February 27, 2019 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.	ENVoY I	For K-12 Educators: ENVoY, the name given to the system of nonverbal techniques presented in this training, is easy and practical. Teachers who use the full range of these skills are able to improve classroom climate, reduce time spent on discipline, maximize time for learning, and more. February 28 - May 16, 2019	SEED Seminar Series	For educators: Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity (SEED) is a peer-led professional development program promoting change through self-reflection and interpersonal dialogue. Morning and afternoon options are available. Registration is now closed.
