Sr. High Knowledge Bowl - Regional Meet
(at Central Lakes College in Staples)
The top 21 senior high Knowledge Bowl teams in Region 5 assemble at Central Lakes College in Staples and compete for a chance to advance to the State Tournament, to be held at Cragun's Resort in April. 1 p.m. - doors open1:30 - competition begins

Lakes BeeRegional spelling bee features approximately 35 Region 5 students, grades 3-8, who either won or were a finalist in their district bee. The Lakes Bee Champion advances to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., in May. Contact NJPA's Student Academics Coordinator, Katie Embree, for more information at 218-895-4144.

English Language Development SeriesThe second session of a multi-part series for educators looking to better reach English Language Learners. Attendees will focus on designing lessons with language in mind, creating language objectives, analyzing academic language load of curricula, and building background knowledge. Ensuring Equitable Educational Opportunity for Each Student: The Equity Literacy ApproachPresenters Paul Gorski and Marceline DuBose of The Equity Literacy Institute will provide attendees a deeper understanding of how equity and inequity operate in schools, even in the subtlest of ways. Administrators, teachers, and school leadership teams are highly encouraged to attend together, and can expect to gain strategies for bolstering equity efforts in classrooms, schools, and districts. 40th Anniversary Open House Celebration Community members are invited to join in the celebration of shared regional accomplishments at National Joint Powers Alliance's 40th Anniversary Open House. The event begins at 3:30 p.m., with refreshments and networking. A formal, half-hour program begins at 4:30 p.m., and will include a special announcement. ENVoY Training I: Educational Nonverbal Yardsticks

ENVoY, the name given to the system of nonverbal techniques presented in this training, are easy and practical. Teachers and school staff who systematically utilize the full range of these skills are able to:
