School districts provide guidance for future of FeePay® system

Sourcewell Technology to discontinue school payment service

At its regular Feb. 18 meeting, the Sourcewell Technology Board of Directors unanimously approved a resolution to discontinue its FeePay service over the coming months.

FeePay is a fee management and online payment portal for school food services and activities. Administered through Sourcewell Technology, FeePay is utilized by approximately 40 school districts in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The system was placed offline for a time in January 2020 when an update failed to function as expected and users were unable to access accounts and process payments.

Prior to the recommendation made at the Feb. 18 meeting, Sourcewell Technology conducted a preliminary evaluation – interviewing several districts utilizing the service – to understand how to best serve their needs going forward. The resulting resolution commits Sourcewell Technology teams to support efforts to evaluate other options, help districts transition to new systems, and provide districts with adequate time for transitioning to a new solution.

Sourcewell Technology Managing Director Jamie Loken says Aug. 31, 2020, is the targeted date for discontinuance of FeePay services.

“In the interim, we will continue to make improvements to the program, knowing districts count on FeePay for daily operations,” Loken said. “Our number one priority is that districts' needs are met. Each of the affected districts have been diligent about communicating challenges to parents, so we want to make sure these districts have our complete support, a solid solution, and a manageable timeline to make the transition.”
