Sourcewell Technology and Sourcewell Become One Agency

Education solutions partner and provider positions for ongoing growth

Sourcewell announces the dissolution of Sourcewell Technology and migration of all staff and services to Sourcewell.

Previously a special division of Sourcewell, Sourcewell Technology was created in 2018 as a result of a joint powers agreement with Metro ECSU to restructure the organization formerly known as Technology Information and Educational Services (TIES). The current migration is the final evolution of that transition.

Under the Sourcewell name, current staff will continue to build and support existing solutions. The consolidation enables the organization to gain efficiencies in operations, further leverage the Sourcewell reputation as a partner to education and other government agencies, and position itself for ongoing local and national growth.

Originally founded as an Educational Cooperative Service Unit (ECSU) to serve Minnesota’s Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd, and Wadena counties in 1978, Sourcewell’s core focus on education and schools has continued as it has expanded to serve other government entities and nonprofits in Minnesota and across the country.

New name, same commitment to schools

After four years of collaboration, Sourcewell Technology will conclude the processes to officially become part of Sourcewell on March 31, 2023.

“As we continue to grow our services regionally and throughout North America, we recognize the opportunity to consolidate our brands to ensure our team is best equipped to effectively and efficiently meet the needs of those we serve,” says Dr. Chad Coauette, Sourcewell executive director and CEO. “As always, we strive to be a trusted partner and a valuable source for effective and impactful solutions. We are not satisfied just providing responsive solutions; we want to deliver them well.”

For schools using Sourcewell Technology solutions — SpringMath, Proliftic, and FilterEd, among others — the name is the only change. The commitment to providing exceptional service and solutions remains unchanged.

“Going forward, we’re going to continue to increase our services and connectivity to those we serve.” Coauette says. “Supported by an ever-growing team of people who are inspired by the work being done in schools and communities, we are dedicated to being an important source for you in that work.”
